This album collects two piano pieces by David Bernabo. "Babbage" is a piece in six parts for solo piano. "Babbage" was recorded in Carnegie Mellon's Alumni Concert Hall on Feb 14, 2009.

"Layers" is a piece in three parts, each with a dedication. The piece incorporates electronics along with piano, performed live in concert on Oct 31, 2009 in Carnegie Mellon's Kresge Hall.

A manipulated outtake acts as the intermission between the two pieces.
